"Shelter Within"

Part of an ongoing expressionist series inspired by the people living on the streets of New York. In this work, a seated woman folds into herself, her face hidden between her knees, her body becoming both refuge and boundary.

Following the chromatic progression of the previous painting, this piece deepens the emotional atmosphere while continuing to observe the quiet gestures found in the city’s margins. When everything external is lost, the body becomes the last shelter, a place to withdraw, to disappear for a moment from the weight of the world.

The figure reveals a profound vulnerability: a silent act of protection, where the body curls inward as the final space of refuge.
